Expense Splitting

Dividing shared expenses among co-owners of a second home — equally, by usage, or with custom shares.

Expense splitting is the process of dividing shared costs among everyone who shares a second home. It is often the most common source of conflicts in co-ownership arrangements.

Three models

  • Equal split: Everyone pays the same amount, regardless of usage
  • Usage-based: You pay according to how much you use the property
  • Custom: Each expense is divided manually by agreement
