Emergency Equipment
Essential safety equipment for a second home — first aid kit, fire extinguisher, torches, and other emergency supplies.
Emergency equipment is the gear that should be available at a second home for emergencies — power outages, fires, injuries, or other situations that can arise at a property that is often in a remote location.
What should be at the property?
- Fire safety: Fire extinguisher, smoke detectors, fire blanket
- First aid: First aid kit with plasters, bandages, and pain relief
- Power outage: Torches, candles, matches, batteries
- Winter: Shovel, salt, warm blankets
- Contact list: Emergency numbers, nearest hospital, fire station
Check emergency equipment regularly
Batteries expire, fire extinguishers lose pressure, and first aid supplies go out of date. Add an emergency equipment check as a regular task at the start of each season.
