A homeowners association is a voluntary organization for property owners in a shared area. The association cooperates on maintenance of shared facilities, roads, snow clearing, water supply, and other matters affecting the entire neighbourhood.
What does a homeowners association do?
- Roads and snow clearing: Maintenance of access roads and parking areas
- Water and sewage: Shared water supply and sewage systems
- Common areas: Playgrounds, beaches, trail networks
- Communication: Information to members and coordination
- Finances: Collecting dues and managing shared resources
